Liverleaf, a Japanese Movie that was like John Wick if John Wick was not a hardened assassin and instead a traumatized Teenage girl.
Liverleaf
For my listening project this weekend, I decided to rewatch a movie that burned itself into my heart. Liverleaf is a movie following the life of Nozaki, a young teenage Tokyoite girl who recently moved into a small rural town because her dad found a job there. Since she moved to this town she and her family gets ruthlessly harassed by her classmates to the point her entire house gets burnt down in a fire started by one of her bullies. At that point, she goes from innocent teenage girl to John Wick on a mission of revenge against the assailants.
SPOILERS TIME
This movie does not shy away from brutality. The police and teachers , as per usual in movies like these, are irrelevant and so useless that the teenagers get to fight each other like it's Battle Royale. This movie is so fundamentally ridiculous that it is awesome and the best movie I have ever watched. In fact, everyone in this movie are pretty much on the extremes of a spectrum from comically evil to literally did nothing wrong to John Wick. It is so beautiful. There's multiple goons who terrorize Nozaki's life that it would take too long to describe them all, but one of my favorite from this ensemble of pure villains would be Camera guy. His name is actually Mitsuru but people in the film call him Camera guy and that's very fitting because it's his defining quality and as a Film Major it's inspiring. Anyways in the beginning of the film, Camera guy starts off this normal supportive guy, he even has a budding romance between him and Nozaki, but by the end we find out he's actually diabolical and knew everything about Naoki's family dying. He could've helped them but in the end he was like "lol no" and just took pictures of it all happening. Crazy right? In conclusion,
10/10
わたしは このえいがが わかりません。I did not know this movie but seems interesting...
